2016 Yamaha Wolverine R Spec Specs
No one can deny that Yamaha helped revolutionize the world of recreational UTVs with the introduction of the Rhino over 10 years ago. Although it practically controlled the market for a year or two, things changed dramatically as other manufacturers introduced a variety of models to the market. Yamaha's more recent Viking is touted as more of a utility UTV, leaving room for Yamaha to introduce a more recreational-focused UTV. That's where the Wolverine R-Spec comes in.

The Wolverine is not designed to replace the Viking but rather to complement it, expanding Yamaha's side-by-side lineup. And while the utility aspect is still present, it's clear that the Wolverine is designed to cater more to the recreational crowd.
Highlights
Yamaha is touting a number of features that will make the Wolverine stand out. One of them is the four-wheel independent suspension. It's outfitted with KYB ultra-long-stroke nitrogen gas-charged piggyback shocks with adjustable settings. The a-arms utilize a wide-arc design, helping to make the 11.4″ ground clearance even more useful.
The 708cc engine provides an excellent power-to-weight ratio compared to competitors, and it's tuned for optimal torque and power delivery. This – combined with Yamaha's esteemed CVT transmission system – should make it handle well across a variety of terrain types.
The interior is designed with the driver and passenger in mind. The soft seats are built to provide a slight lean angle to maximize comfort without sacrificing visibility. They're also set back far enough to allow for plenty of legroom. The driver's seat is also adjustable.
There are several other notable features that come stock on the machine, including a plastic roof, doors, Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires, a full skid plate, a versatile bed, and storage in both the dash and the center console.
